With a BS and MS in Special Education and over a decade in the classroom, Mrs. Kimberly brings a heart for learning and a hands-on approach to Idlehurst Learning Collective. She has 10 years of English Language Arts teaching experience, 3 years of Montessori background, and 3 years of homeschooling under her belt—plus she’s a proud mama to a four-year-old.
She’s also certified in Early Childhood Special Education and Outdoor Education, making her the perfect fit for our nature-rich, child-centered approach. A lifelong gardener with a green thumb and a love for horticulture, she’s always ready to turn the outdoors into a living classroom.
Outside the classroom, you’ll find her baking sourdough, reading, embroidering, or tending to her chickens, cats, and flowers. Mrs. Kimberly is deeply devoted to nurturing learning through faith, simplicity, and connection.
Brooke joins Idlehurst Learning Collective with a rich blend of classroom expertise and real-world farming experience. Having worked in Spartanburg County schools, Brooke now runs her own family farm, raising pigs, chickens, and cows while instilling the values of hard work and stewardship in her own children. A proud mother of five, she is deeply passionate about connecting young learners to the land. Through hands-on farming projects and engaging, science-based lessons, Brooke inspires students to explore the natural world, understand where their food comes from, and develop a lifelong appreciation for agriculture.
At the heart of Idlehurst is Mrs. Kim—our founder, the farm owner, creative mind, and passionate advocate for hands-on, inclusive learning.
With a background that bridges communication, public health, and agriculture, Mrs. Kim brings a unique blend of experience to the table. She holds a BA in Communication and Spanish, an MA in Communication, Technology & Society, and an MS in Public Health Research—all while raising livestock on the family’s century-old farm.
Professionally, she’s spent over 14 years in digital marketing, graphic design, and brand strategy, leading multi-million dollar campaigns and managing high-performing teams. She’s also a nationally recognized speaker and published photographer whose work has appeared in the Washington Post.
But her true passion lies in community. As the founder of Idlehurst Foundation, she’s helped create a safe and supportive space where neurodivergent children and adults can learn, grow, and thrive through equine therapy and outdoor experiences. With over a decade of agricultural experience and three years as a therapeutic riding instructor, Mrs. Kim is dedicated to helping others find their place and purpose—on the farm and beyond.
When she is done with her 8-5 job, she can usually be found on the farm with a camera in one hand, a baby cow or other animal in the other, and a vision for what’s possible.
Ralph is our resident wreck and classroom cat. He earned his name fair and square—he’s a bit of a wreck, but we love him for it. Equal parts cuddle bug and chaos, Ralph is always up for anything… as long as it involves snacks and a good scratch.
He’s a professional purr machine, champion napper, and firm believer that learning is best done with a cat in your lap. Whether he’s lounging in the sun, inspecting student work, or sneaking an extra treat, Ralph brings comfort, comedy, and a whole lot of love to the classroom.
