With a BS and MS in Special Education and over a decade in the classroom, Mrs. Kimberly brings a heart for learning and a hands-on approach to Idlehurst Learning Collective. She has 10 years of English Language Arts teaching experience, 3 years of Montessori background, and 3 years of homeschooling under her belt—plus she’s a proud mama to a four-year-old.
She’s also certified in Early Childhood Special Education and Outdoor Education, making her the perfect fit for our nature-rich, child-centered approach. A lifelong gardener with a green thumb and a love for horticulture, she’s always ready to turn the outdoors into a living classroom.
Outside the classroom, you’ll find her baking sourdough, reading, embroidering, or tending to her chickens, cats, and flowers. Mrs. Kimberly is deeply devoted to nurturing learning through faith, simplicity, and connection.
With a decade of experience in special education, Mrs. Madeline brings heart, creativity, and hands-on learning to life. She began her career in Greenville County Schools, where she led a classroom serving students with moderate intellectual disabilities, autism, and other exceptionalities. Since 2020, she has continued her impactful work at Gray Court-Owings School, teaching students with learning differences—and even incorporating small animal care with classroom pets!
Mrs. Madeline holds a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Lander University and has been widely recognized for her excellence in teaching, including being named Teacher of the Year and Literacy Teacher of the Year for the 2022–2023 school year. She also served on both the School Improvement and Leadership Councils.
With deep agricultural roots, Mrs. Madeline blends her love for education and the outdoors seamlessly, and we are so excited for the curiosity, compassion, and commitment she brings to our learning community.
At the heart of Idlehurst is Mrs. Kim—our founder, the farm owner, creative mind, and passionate advocate for hands-on, inclusive learning.
With a background that bridges communication, public health, and agriculture, Mrs. Kim brings a unique blend of experience to the table. She holds a BA in Communication and Spanish, an MA in Communication, Technology & Society, and an MS in Public Health Research—all while raising livestock on the family’s century-old farm.
Professionally, she’s spent over 14 years in digital marketing, graphic design, and brand strategy, leading multi-million dollar campaigns and managing high-performing teams. She’s also a nationally recognized speaker and published photographer whose work has appeared in the Washington Post.
But her true passion lies in community. As the founder of Idlehurst Foundation, she’s helped create a safe and supportive space where neurodivergent children and adults can learn, grow, and thrive through equine therapy and outdoor experiences. With over a decade of agricultural experience and three years as a therapeutic riding instructor, Mrs. Kim is dedicated to helping others find their place and purpose—on the farm and beyond.
When she is done with her 8-5 job, she can usually be found on the farm with a camera in one hand, a baby cow or other animal in the other, and a vision for what’s possible.
Ralph is our resident wreck and classroom cat. He earned his name fair and square—he’s a bit of a wreck, but we love him for it. Equal parts cuddle bug and chaos, Ralph is always up for anything… as long as it involves snacks and a good scratch.
He’s a professional purr machine, champion napper, and firm believer that learning is best done with a cat in your lap. Whether he’s lounging in the sun, inspecting student work, or sneaking an extra treat, Ralph brings comfort, comedy, and a whole lot of love to the classroom.
